Marchesi di Gresy have long been recognised as one of Piemonte's top producers. The winery has been in the family of owner Alberto di Gresy for centuries. Unusually for a wine from this region this Monferrato is 100% Merlot. Traditional vinification and maceration (14 day maceration) with regular pumpings over. Malolactic fermentation in tank. 12 months in used French barriques (Allier) followed by 24 months in Slavonian oak casks. Beautifully mature, think of this a Pomerol with some Italian flair (and a fraction of the price!).
