Solutré-Pouilly is on the back of the Roche de Solutré and above the main body of Pouilly Fuissé. The vineyard is 35 years old and planted on very old, poor limestone. It is exposed, open to the elements, and the vines here struggle to ripen, even in hot years. Therefore each vintage is different and there is a nervous tension in the wine that is utterly beguiling. Being unoaked, but hugely concentrated, this is a Chablis-esque style with sunshine flavours.
