2018 Rusden Driftsand Barossa Valley, Australia

MORE STOCKS ARRIVING AT THE END OF APRIL 2021

Wine like so many others things is driven by fashion. In the 1970s all the big producers pulled out old Grenache vines because they weren`t seen as a quality option and often planted Cabernet instead. A few decades later it is understood that old Grenache plants can produce wonderfully complex and dense wines so some old vine material has been grafted back. This is exactly what happened at Rusden and the result is this fantastically drinkable Grenache, bolstered by some fine ripe Shiraz and a splash of Mataro. Gingerbread and spice on the nose, black cherry and raspberry fruit, a silky, elegant texture with the Shiraz and old oak providing structure. 14.5%

Rusden

Rusden’s wines have a unique character, with balance and structure. They are fruit-driven because they believe in their vineyard and want you to taste the unique flavours in the wines of this particular site.

They terroir comes through in the house style each wine is made, and grown, the same way in the same soil.

Rusden is a “vigneron” in the true sense of the word. They grow the grapes, make and bottle the wine, and it sell to customers far and wide (such as Caviste).
