2018 Maison Sichel Margaux, Bordeaux
We have no more bottles/cases of this wine for immediate delivery due to the popularity of this offer. More cases were collected from Bordeaux this week and will be available at the end of June. Any orders placed will now be delivered in late June/early July.
Much of our Bordeaux purchases come through the historic négociant and owner of Ch d’Angludet – Maison Sichel. One of their great tricks and skills (and also annoyances) is their private bottlings of ‘surplus’ wine from one of the great Chateaux – but they are always sworn to secrecy as to its origins (despite our very best efforts). Their current bottling of Margaux is simply fabulous and only £24/bottle or just a crazy £120 by the case of 6 including delivery. Mark tasted this semi-nameless wine in London back in April and his notes read ‘beautiful deep dark berry hue with luscious aromas of cassis and vanilla. On the palate the tannins are youthful yet soft but the fruit is ripe and inviting and very Margaux! Gorgeous now but will clearly keep and develop over the next few years. A must buy for claret lovers who like a bargain and are happy not to have the name of a posh chateau on their supper table
