2020 Vieux Château Bayard Montagne-Saint-Émilion

£15.95

From Montagne-Saint-Émilion, a vineyard with more limestone in the soil, this reveals the true classicism of the appellation.

This Merlot-dominant blend, with about a quarter Cabernet, has been aged in both barrel and concrete tank, then blended together for elegance.

Tasting Note: A deep, regal purple hue with delicate violet glints, while the nose offers a combination of succulence and refinement. On the palate, its fullness and roundness is bolstered by sublime tannins, balance, and a refreshing finish.

Origin: Bordeaux, France

Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon

Vieux Château Bayard

Vieux Château Bayard has been in the same family for eight generations and always run by women. Marie-Laure Latorre is the latest family member to run the property, returning home in 2011 after many different roles in the wine trade.

There are eight hectares, mainly planted to Merlot with 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wines have wonderful brightness and freshness, delivered by early picking. 50% of the blend is aged in (old) oak and the remainder aged in concrete tank.
