Garnacha/Grenache
Grenache, a versatile and widely planted red grape, is a key player in fruity, flavourful reds.
In the Southern Rhône, particularly Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it contributes to blends with red berries, white pepper, and a hint of earthiness. In Spain, where it’s known as Garnacha, regions such as Priorat produce powerful, concentrated wines with dark fruit, licorice, and mineral notes. In Australia’s Barossa Valley, Grenache offers ripe raspberry, cherry, and spice flavours, often with a silky texture and good acidity, making it both expressive and approachable.
