Pegasus Bay Winery is a family-owned gem in the heart of North Canterbury, New Zealand, renowned for its exceptional wines and deep-rooted passion for viticulture.
The Donaldson family's wine journey began in the early 1970s when Ivan Donaldson, a neurologist, fell in love with wine thanks to a book from his future wife, Christine. After exploring Europe's wine regions, Ivan planted one of Canterbury's first modern vineyards and started making wine as a hobby. The family has been dedicated to winemaking ever since.
What started as a weekend hobby has grown into an award-winning winery. Ivan and Christine's four sons now hold key roles in the business. Matthew is the winemaker, Edward manages marketing, Michael handles local sales, and Paul oversees operations as the general manager.
