Conciso is the interpretation of a fine and elegant Dão, a wine that shows all the potential and character of a very old vineyard. This century-old vineyard, planted in granite soil and facing east, on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, has mixed grape varieties where Baga and Jaen are predominant.

The 2016 vintage saw a mild winter, and spring brought high precipitation and humidity levels that persisted until summer. Despite the challenges posed by these conditions, our biodynamic practices allowed the vines to develop a strong resistance, ensuring the plants remained unscathed. This has resulted in an elegant wine that underwent 20 months of aging in 2,500-litre barrels with some in old barrels at Quinta da Lomba. Afterward, the wine was bottled without filtration.

Tasting Note: The 2016 Niepoort Conciso exhibits a light colour with subtle violet nuances. Its bouquet is both powerful and intricate, revealing notes of fresh minerals, forest fruits, and hints of pepper and cloves. As it breathes, it evolves beautifully, making it ideal for decanting. On the palate, it envelops the senses with its fresh fruit flavours and smooth tannins. This wine is both bold and refined, showcasing a unique expression of Dão. Its well-balanced acidity and exceptional harmony are evident in every sip. The finish is long, deep, and delicate, leaving a lasting impression.
