2017 McHenry Hohnen Calgardup Brook Chardonnay
100% Calgardup Brook. This vineyard lies just inland from the coast. Its sandy, schisty soils are well weathered. These chardonnay vines run east-west with a slightly sloping northern aspect.
The cooler conditions of the 2017 season have created a wine of great purity and finesse.
Tasting Note: With hints of oyster shell and sea spray, the delicate aromas of nectarine and nashi pear will transport you to the shore. Immerse yourself in beeswax and nougat, alluding to the complex process of wild fermentation and extended lees contact. Balanced by a saline acidity and a smooth, chalky texture, this mineral Chardonnay showcases the terroir of this southern Margaret River vineyard.
