DAY ONE

Julienas- Chaintré Beaujolais Nouveau 'Coeur Pourpre' 2021

Remember Nouveau Day in late November and the first soft fruity Gamay from the same year’s harvest?  Caviste decided to bring over a small shipment of bottles from a small producer in Julienas, one of the ten Beaujolais Villages.  And thanks to the time it takes to ship goods at the moment the wine only arrived yesterday at Caviste.  Mais il est arrivée et le vin a bon gout!  We love the soft Gamay juice with such gentle tannins and bright damson fruit.  Why treat yourself to this year’s wine at £12.95/bottle or £75 for 6 bottles delivered.

Then in contrast we have captured the final 90 bottles of the popular Denizot Christophe Givry 2014 at a modest £19.95/bottle.  This has to be the best value mature Burgundy on the market.  7 year old Pinot Noir from the Côte Chalonnaise to the south of the Côte de Beaune.  Evolved bramble fruit with some gentle spicy tannins.  At such amazing value this is the sort of wine that you can enjoy with a midweek chicken casserole or a Sicilian bean stew.
