Twelve Days of Christmas Wines - Four: From the Black Sea

Day Four: Great Christmas Wines from Bulgaria

Many of you will be grateful that we do not celebrate Koledari - the Bulgarian tradition of singing carols from midnight on Christmas Eve, through the early hours, from house to house... Better to get a good night’s sleep.

Perhaps we could introduce a new tradition? Sing a few carols, after enjoying two of our most popular wines from close to the Black Sea.

They have been imported by our good friend Georgi, who many of you have met (pouring and talking about his wines) at the Caviste shops.

2021 Bratanov Symbiose
Chardonnay, Viognier, Tamianka | South Sakar, Bulgaria

A dry, fruity, aromatic blend. Unoaked, crisp, but with a very slight off-dry twist with peach and floral notes.

Perfect alongside fish and Asian cuisine, or simple slices of Scottish smoked salmon, soft brown bread and butter.

2020 Logodaj Melnik 55
Melnik | Thracian Valley, Bulgaria

Rich, soft spiced berry notes and a very classical feel, Melnik 55 has been one of the Caviste hits of the year. Evolved yet bright with berry and redcurrant.

The perfect partner for red meats, cheeses and roasted vegetables.
