2022 Rusden Driftsand GSM

£22.00

Rusden’s Driftsand GSM marries old?vine Grenache and Shiraz in a classic Rhône?style blend, offering Barossa enthusiasts a rare taste of Vine Vale’s deep sand over clay terroir. Perfect for those seeking a robust yet elegant red that reveals its layers with every glass.

Rusden’s vineyard in Vine Vale sits on pure white sand above red clay, grafted back to Grenache and Shiraz from 1969 plantings. The Canute family hand?tends each vine, ensuring low yields and concentrated flavours.

This limited?production GSM stands out for its bright red fruit intensity and savoury complexity, making it a must?buy for fans of Barossa blends and Rhône aficionados alike.

Winemaking: Each varietal is fermented separately with gentle pump?overs, then aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak barriques to preserve fruit purity and add subtle spice.

Pairing Suggestions: Grilled lamb chops with rosemary, vegetarian ratatouille, mushroom risotto with Parmesan.

Tasting Note: The nose shows raspberry, red licorice and white pepper, while the palate delivers dark cherry and spicy Shiraz warmth, finishing with supple, chewy tannins.

Origin: Barossa Valley, Australia

Alcohol: 14.5%

Rusden

Rusden Wines began as a weekend passion project in 1979 when Christine and Dennis Canute coaxed new life into a run?down Vine Vale vineyard. What started as a “hobby farm” has evolved into a hands?on family estate where each vine is coaxed back to its best through meticulous grafting and pruning. Today, Christian and Amy Canute carry forward that legacy, blending old?world Barossa grit with a fresh, experimental spirit drawn from the region’s pure white sands over red clay.

Rusden’s signature lies in balance and structure: wines that champion vineyard terroir rather than cellar wizardry. From the grafted Grenache and Shiraz in their Driftsand GSM to experimental releases like Wildwood Cinsault, every bottle tells the story of Vine Vale’s unique soils and the Canute family’s unwavering belief that quality trumps quantity.
