A gloriously unique blend of three of Bulgaria’s native varieties. Most of our friends know how much we love Bulgarian wines for their character and historical significance. From our friends Petar and Rado, this blend is highlighting varieties that we rarely see in Britain. 

Firstly we have Pamid, a grape variety that dates back to the time of the Ancient Thracians. It is bright, plush and full of juicy fruit, a bit like Gamay. The second variety is Mavrud, considered by many to be Bulgaria’s flagship grape, its name comes from the Greek, μαυρό (mavró), meaning "black." It is a late ripening grape that offers higher tannins and a spicy backbone. The final variety is the youngest, Rubin. Rubin is a hybrid of Syrah and Nebbiolo, first planted in Southern Bulgaria in the 1940s, it has characters of both its parents. Spice and body of a Syrah in combination with a racy acidity and tannic structure.

Tasting Note: The first of its type that we know of, the Mixtape is as unique in its flavour as it is its makeup!  Beautifully complex acidity, fresh berry fruit and ripe tannins caress the palate. It is a bright expression of red cherries and pomegranate. Amazing with any duck dish.
