2021 Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay

£52.00

Hunting Hill is a vineyard that was first planted in 1982 and became a significant part of the original Kumeu River Chardonnay blend. Occupying the slope overlooking Maté’s Vineyard, it has always contributed lovely ripe and rich fruit to the Estate Chardonnay. Hunting Hill was replanted in 2000 and is now even better than before, giving beautifully ripe fruit with a distinctive, mealy minerality.

Tasting Note: Hunting Hill is very distinctive in its terroir typicity, with piercing lemon/lime fruit lift and florality on the nose, richness and volume in the mouth followed by lingering acidity and minerality on the finish. This is an absolute classic example of how great the Chardonnay grape can be: A beautifully powerful, yet elegant and complex wine with long term aging ability.

Origin: Kumeu, New Zealand

Blend: Chardonnay

Kumeu River

The Domaine Cheveau story began in the 1950s, rooted in the picturesque hamlet of Pouilly. André Cheveau, once a forest ranger, became a vintner almost overnight, planting the seeds of what would become a thriving family legacy. Over decades, the Cheveau family refined their craft, transitioning from bulk wine sales to an ambitious focus on bottling their own exceptional vintages. With unwavering dedication to quality, their wines are a testament to their deep understanding of the Mâconnais terroir.

In the early 2000s, Nicolas and Aurélie Cheveau took the domaine to new heights, boldly showcasing the region’s rich diversity. By expanding into the Beaujolais region in 2015, they added a layer of red-wine excellence to their already celebrated white wines. Today, the domaine is synonymous with both tradition and innovation, crafting wines that honour the land while pushing the boundaries of quality.
