This wine is part of the Nat Cool revolution, a collaboration of winemakers crafting light, funky, and utterly drinkable wines. In the heart of Bairrada, this red is all about showcasing a fresher, vibrant side of Baga. It’s a chilled-out companion that just wants to be enjoyed, from picnics to dinner parties — welcome to the effortlessly cool world of Nat Cool!

2022 was a scorcher with extreme heat and drought, prompting an early start to the harvest. Niepoort kicked off picking on 22 August, racing through September’s rainy spells to ensure top-quality grapes. Sourced from old vineyard blocks, the Baga grapes underwent a 5-week fermentation in stainless steel. Maturation and malolactic fermentation continued in the tanks, resulting in an unfiltered, raw expression of the year’s unique character.

Tasting Note: This Tinto is all about pure Baga fun! Light and bright in the glass, it bursts with aromas of fresh flowers, herbs, and juicy cherries. On the palate, it's crisp, refreshing, and slightly spicy, with a playful zing of acidity and a hint of subtle sweetness. Its finish is vibrant, with a touch of astringency that makes you want another sip. Best served chilled — a perfect choice for laid-back, easy drinking.
