Vertente 2006 is a captivating wine, on a journey towards refinement and intricacy, blending the richness and intensity of Douro wines with the vitality and sophistication of Niepoort wines.

Sourced from Quinta de Nápoles, a 20-year-old vineyard in the Tedo valley, and ancient vineyards near Pinhão, this wine is a concentrated and alluring masterpiece.

The Douro region experienced a warm and arid year, leading to an interruption of maturation in many south-facing vineyards. Fortunately, light rains in early September allowed for full maturation and maintained good levels of acidity. In September, the harvest took place and the grapes were carefully chosen at the sorting table before being de-stemmed.

The wine aged for 17 months in French oak barrels, in which malolactic fermentation took place.

Tasting Note: Ruby color loaded with notes of red fruits, spicy, aromas of black and green pepper, mineral with a slight smoke from barrel aging. In the mouth it is very appealing, with evident fruit, great freshness, soft tannins with a persistent finish. A wine that can be enjoyed with great pleasure now or over the next few years.
