Le Soula Maceration Orange Biodynamic

£40.00

An Expressive Orange Wine with Texture

The Le Soula Maceration Orange is a bold exploration of white grapes with extended skin contact, crafted in the biodynamic vineyards of Fenouillèdes. This wine captures the unique character of its high-altitude terroir, blending freshness, minerality, and depth with a captivating amber hue that signals its gentle oxidation and complex structure.

Winemaking:

The grapes are harvested by hand from biodynamic vineyards cultivated on granite and schist soils at altitudes of 350 to 650 metres. Fermentation occurs on the skins for several days, using native yeasts and traditional techniques. The wine is aged partially in large oak demi-muids and partially in stainless steel, with minimal intervention and light filtration before bottling, allowing the natural texture and aromatics to shine.

Pairing Suggestions:

Pairs beautifully with roasted root vegetables, butternut squash risotto, or lightly spiced chicken and preserved lemon tagine.

Tasting Note:

Aromas of orange peel, apricot, and dried herbs lead to a vibrant palate of stone fruit, gentle tannins, and a persistent, mineral finish.

Origin:

Fenouillèdes, Roussillon, France

Le Soula

Hidden away in the rugged heights of the Fenouillèdes, Le Soula is one of the great modern success stories of southern France. Established in 2001 by Roy Richards and Mark Walford alongside the legendary Gérard Gauby, the estate was created to explore the untapped potential of the high-altitude vineyards on the edge of the Pyrenees. From the start, its wines stood apart for their clarity, finesse, and sense of place.

Le Soula’s vines, some over a century old, thrive on poor, stony soils of granite and schist. Under the stewardship of Wendy Wilson, the domaine continues its unwavering commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, guided by lunar cycles and ecological balance. The result is a collection of expressive wines that reflect both the purity of their mountain terroir and the soul of the people who craft them.
