Bill's Pinot Picks
I know, I know… Pinot Grigio can have, to some minds, a bit of a bad reputation.
Years of bland, bargain basement, boxes stacked high and sold cheap have been par for the course for some years when it comes to this variety. Almost always at lower end of a wine list, and almost always a little bland, we see this at our local pubs and eateries.
Known in Italy as Pinot Grigio, France as Pinot Gris and Germany as Grauburgunder, they are all one and the same… well, almost. The hazy-skinned variety is actually a mutation of Pinot Noir and the difference in name often denotes subtle stylistic differences.
