2018 Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande Saint-Estephe

£45.00

The Tronquoy-Lalande blend utilises four grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Each ingredient contributes to the overall flavour profile, providing an elegant balance of roundness, density, aromas, and persistence.

The vineyard is meticulously tended using traditional farming methods. The "four ways" plowing technique is employed, consisting of earthing-up and earthing-down multiple times. This process loosens and aerates the soil, allowing rainwater to better seep through. Additionally, it naturally controls weed growth and promotes microbial activity in the soil that sits above a layer of gravel and clay.

Château Tronquoy-Lalande’s terroir, generally known as one of the finest, stretches seamlessly over 30 hectares on a historic outcrops in the heart of the famous Saint-Estèphe appellation.

Packaged in handsome, flat, six-bottle wooden boxes (only available for collection or local delivery).

Tasting Note: Under the same ownership as the illustrious Château Montrose, this shares the same density of cassis and damson fruit over a bed of firm but rounded tannins. Young, but intensely lush and opulent, with gentle classic cedarwood notes that add complexity and spice. Enjoy now or at various moments over the next 5 to 10 years.

Origin: Bordeaux, France

Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc

Château Tronquoy-Lalande

Experience the rich history of Château Tronquoy-Lalande, one of the oldest and most prestigious wines in Saint-Estèphe. Named after its first owner François Tronquoy and the iconic La Lande location where the estate's historic plot is located.

The estate was formed in the 18th century around the remarkable château built for the Tronquoy family on a design by Victor Louis, the architect of the Grand Théâtre in Bordeaux. An elegant, white-stone country house, typical of the region, boasts two side towers whose pointed roofs peep above the highest trees in the surrounding park.
