2024 Bratanov Tamianka

£25.00

Bratanov's 2024 Tamianka is a vibrant expression of one of Bulgaria’s most fragrant native varieties, made with minimal intervention on the sunlit slopes of South Sakar. This is a wine for fans of the aromatic and floral, yet grounded in freshness and charm.

With its perfumed nose of geranium, quince and delicate white flowers, this dry white balances opulent aromas with a clean citrus and lychee palate. A refined choice for adventurous white wine drinkers looking to explore something beautifully different.

Winemaking: Estate-grown Tamianka grapes are gently handled and vinified in stainless steel to preserve aromatic purity and freshness, with no oak ageing.

Pairing Suggestions: Perfect with sushi, seafood in citrus or herb sauces, smoked trout, lightly spiced Asian dishes or even a delicate floral dessert.

Tasting Note: Light yellow with greenish glints. The nose is bursting with geranium and quince, while the palate shows citrus, lychee and floral spice, with fresh, zesty acidity.

Origin: South Sakar, Bulgaria

Blend: Tamianka

Bratanov

In the sun-drenched South Sakar hills of Bulgaria, the Bratanov family have carved out a name for honest, expressive wines born from hard work and deep-rooted heritage. After decades away from the vine, their return to winemaking in 2010 marked a new chapter for both their family and their region. Today, their 24 hectares of estate vineyards near Shishmanovo grow a mix of indigenous grapes like Rubin and Tamyanka alongside classic French varieties.

Everything is done with care and intent, from vineyard to bottle. They intervene only when necessary, letting nature and terroir lead the way. The wines are beautifully unpretentious, full of life, and reflect the Bratanovs’ personal story, sometimes literally, as seen in the lovingly named cuvées after their daughters. This is real winemaking, where tradition meets thoughtful innovation on Bulgaria’s best soils.
