Domaine du Comte Armand | Burgundy, France
Domaine du Comte Armand, renowned for its prestigious Clos des Epeneaux, is a gem in the heart of Burgundy. This historic estate, which dates back to the late 18th century, owes its name to the impressive five-hectare parcel acquired by Nicolas Marey. In 1828, the Clos des Epeneaux and its associated buildings became part of the Count Armand family's legacy, known as the Fief de Rancy in the village of Pommard.
The vineyard, originally focused on Clos des Epeneaux, expanded in 1994 to include plots in Volnay and later Auxey-Duresses, growing to a total of nine hectares.
The vines, aged between 30 and 80 years, thrive at a high density of 12,000 vines per hectare. The vineyard is divided into four distinct sections, each vinified separately to highlight unique characteristics such as the year of planting, bedrock depth, soil structure, and texture. This meticulous approach ensures that Domaine du Comte Armand’s wines are true expressions of Burgundy’s rich and varied landscape, offering wine enthusiasts a taste of history and exceptional quality in every bottle.
