2018 Lieutenant de Sigalas Sauternes (Half)
Not many vineyards can trace their history back to the 17th century, but Château Sigalas Rabaud is one of the few. In the 17th century, the Bordeaux Parliament identified the unparalleled terroir near the Garonne River. Notable Councilor Rabaud subsequently cultivated a 60ha vineyard. By 1832, Guide Jullien, a definitive reference book of the time, affirmed the quality of Rabaud's offering to match that of renowned Yquem and Rayne Vigneau wines!
Ultimately, at the 1855 classification, multiple estates like Latour, Haut Brion, and Rabaud achieved the fabled 1er cru status.
Coming from the same terroir as the Premier Cru Classé, Le Lieutenant de Sigalas is a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon. Ideal as an aperitif, or as an accompaniment to poultry, cheese and fruit dessert.
Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting Note: A Sauternes to consume in its youth, while still at its most vibrant and fresh. Aromas of flowers, citrus, and nectarines carry through every sip, with a light spread of honey and vanilla.
