2024 Maury Nature de Schistes Blanc

£15.95

Bright, Textured, and Elegantly Mineral

The 2023 Maury Nature de Schistes Blanc showcases the full potential of Grenache Gris from old vines rooted in black schist. A wine of poise and texture, it reveals shimmering notes of citrus and white stone fruit with a fine mineral streak running through. Fresh, complex, and full of character, it’s a captivating white for those seeking something beyond the ordinary.

Crafted from hand-picked grapes grown on low-yielding plots, this cuvée benefits from careful parcel selection, cold settling, and early bottling to preserve its vibrancy. The result is a precise, structured white that offers both freshness and depth, ideal for seafood lovers and those who appreciate refined Southern French whites.

Winemaking:

Old vines over 40 years, hand-harvested and sorted, followed by direct pressing and cold settling. Fermented at controlled temperatures and bottled early to capture the full expression of Grenache Gris.

Pairing Suggestions:

Perfect with grilled sea bass, prawns, and scallops, or vegetarian dishes like risotto with lemon zest or goat’s cheese tartlets.

Tasting Note:

Pale gold with delicate aromas of citrus, pear, and white flowers. The palate is mineral and elegant, with remarkable length and a crisp, saline finish.

Les Vignerons de Maury

From the unique soils of Cotes de Roussillon in Southwest France, bordered by the Mediterranean and Pyrenees. A combination of manly schist, with black marl, these nutrient thin soils encourage deep root growth resulting in intense, complex and perfumed wines. Lying in the northern foothills of the Pyrenees and just 30km inland from the Mediterranean, the tiny village of Maury boasts one of the oldest appellations in France, being established in 1936 and has cooperative viticulture at its heart.
