2024 Trastullo Primitivo

£14.95

Trastullo Primitivo 2024 is a sumptuous expression of Puglia’s organic Primitivo, enhanced by dried grapes from a late harvest for extra depth and concentration.

A portion of the grapes undergoes a seven- to eight-day maceration in stainless steel at 25–27 °C to build colour and structure. The remaining fruit is left on the vine for ten additional days before destemming and fermentation. The two musts are blended when the first ferment reactivates on the second harvest’s skins, then aged for 3–6 months in oak barrels to marry plush fruit with gentle tannins.

Trastullo Primitivo stands out for its organic authenticity and innovative double-harvest method, yielding a beautifully balanced wine that marries ripe blackberry and cherry flavours with soft tannins and fresh acidity.

Pairing Suggestions: Delightful alongside mushroom risotto with aged Parmesan or a grilled steak, frites, and rosemary jus.

Tasting Note: Deep ruby red, fragrant blackberry and cherry aromas evolve to complex dried-fruit nuances; the palate is rich yet balanced, with supple tannins and a bright finish.

Caviste

Trastullo draws its name from the mischievous character in Commedia dell’Arte and an archaic Italian word for “great enjoyment”; a fitting homage to Italy’s zest for life. Inspired by 17th-century printmaker Jacques Callot’s Florentine journey, Trastullo celebrates centuries of Italian artistry through its wines.

Rooted in Puglia’s sun-baked terroir, Trastullo sources Primitivo grapes from organically tended vineyards where a secondary “appassimento” pick enriches flavour. Passionate vinification honours tradition while delivering approachable wines that bring joy to every glass.
