2023 Lanzerac Mrs English Chardonnay
Elizabeth Katherina English bought the farm Schoongezicht in 1920 for £18 000, subsequently renamed the farm ‘Lanzerac’ and transformed it during her nine years of ownership into one of the most modern wineries in the Cape. This wine is a tribute to this formidable lady.
Sourced from a single vineyard in the Jonkershoek Valley.
The blend of barrels used was 40% new, 40% second fill, and 20% third fill, with an additional 12 months of again.
Tasting Note: A complex wine with abundant citrus favours on the nose, a full palate, and a lingering aftertaste. Great care is taken during the blending process to ensure a wine with impeccable balance, character, poise, and deliverance.
