2022 Antinori Peppoli Chianti Classico

£22.00

The 2022 Pèppoli Chianti Classico is a vibrant expression of the Chianti region, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, with a blend of complementary varieties that add depth to its character. This wine beautifully captures the essence of the Chianti Classico territory, offering the classic floral and fruity aromas that define the region's best wines.

In the cellar, each grape variety was carefully harvested, gently crushed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. This process preserved the wine's fruity and floral notes while soft tannins were gently extracted during maceration. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in large Slavonian oak barrels, with a small portion in barriques and stainless steel vats, before bottling began in September 2023.

Tasting Note: A bright ruby red wine with fresh aromas of red berries like currants, strawberries, and pomegranate, accented by hints of watermelon. Delicate floral notes of rosehip and hibiscus are layered over a subtle background of caramel. On the palate, the wine is enveloping and flavourful, with lively freshness and soft tannins leading to a savoury and vibrant finish.

Origin: Tuscany, Italy

Marchesi Antinori

Antinori has become Tuscany’s - arguably Italy’s - pre-eminent wine producer, establishing an important presence in Piedmont, Umbria, Puglia and Lombardy.

The Antinori family has been producing wine in Tuscany for six centuries and exporting it for four – that’s 26 generations of uninterrupted family ownership, making them the 10th oldest company in the world still in the hands of the same family. They moved to Florence in the early 13th century, and remain central figures in the fabric of the city.

Marchese Piero Antinori sums up the company’s outlook thus: “Ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation.”
