The Vertente 2022 was fermented in conical stainless steel tanks before being left to mature for 22 months in french oak barrels.

The 2022 vintage was the driest year of the 21st century, with a harvest that began earlier than ever before! In the past few years, we have witnessed an increase in unpredictable weather, with more frequent extreme phenomena, such as the heat waves and heavy rains that characterised the year 2022 in the Douro.

Tasting Note: Ruby in colour. The nose shows graphite and violet aromas, with hints of sour cherries, rhubarb and fresh mint. The palate is medium-bodied, marked by lively acidity and fine-grained tannins that provide structure and balance. The finish is long and persistent, with freshness and floral nuances lingering.

Dirk Niepoort, part of the fifth generation, leads the family business, following the retirement of his father, Eduard Rudolph Niepoort. Since his studies in Switzerland, Dirk has been passionate about wine and has brought innovation to the traditional Niepoort brand.
