Tiara is a supremely elegant white from 40–100-year-old vines on granite soils at 600m. Its understated perfume and tensile acidity make it a portrait of Douro’s high-elevation purity.

Niepoort’s team selects grapes from granite-based, high-altitude plots. Fermented and aged in large foudres, Tiara showcases the region’s cooling breezes and the age-old vitality of old-vine Rabigato and Cercial. Tiara’s charm is in its restraint and profile: granite freshness, herbal lift, and steely tension converge in a white of rare finesse and freshness in the Douro.

Winemaking: After gentle pressing and cold settling, spontaneous fermentation and malolactic conversion occur in foudres over 12 months, unlocking nuanced herbal and mineral notes.

Pairing Suggestions: Grilled prawns, sea scallops, herb-roasted chicken or fresh garden salad.

Tasting Note: Subtle white blossom and nettle aromas lead to zesty lime, wet stone minerality and a pure, driven finish.

Dirk Niepoort, part of the fifth generation, leads the family business, following the retirement of his father, Eduard Rudolph Niepoort. Since his studies in Switzerland, Dirk has been passionate about wine and has brought innovation to the traditional Niepoort brand.

Niepoort strives to maintain its status as a "niche player" by crafting unique ports and Douro wines that blend centuries-old customs with modernity. This combination also encompasses wine from two other regions, the Bairrada and Dão, which have contributed to shaping the Douro - Bairrada - Dão triangle. The newest points in this triangle also "deliver the goods" and hold a significant place for Niepoort, as they possess immense potential by combining the rich heritage of Portugal's winemaking history with the potential for innovation.
