1997 Domaine Gour de Chaule Gigondas
Nestled in the heart of Gigondas, a village whose very name, gifted by the Romans as "Jucunditas," means joy and cheerfulness, lies the charming Domaine Gour de Chaulé.
This estate is not just a vineyard; it's a living tapestry woven by generations of passionate winemakers, particularly the remarkable women of the Bonfils and Fumoso families.
The story begins in the early 1900s when the Bonfils family balanced their time between cultivating vines and olive trees. As the years rolled on, the vineyard flourished, becoming the family's primary focus. In 1970, Rolande, the grandmother of Stéphanie, boldly took the step to bottle and market her own wine—a move that met with great success.
The 10-hectare estate is a mosaic of 23 plots, each contributing to the vast aromatic palette of their wines. With vines averaging 55 years old - and the oldest planted by Stéphanie's great-grandfather Eugène back in 1901 - the vineyard yields are intentionally low, between 26 and 32 hectolitres per hectare. This meticulous approach ensures that every grape contributes to the quality and character of their wines.
Origin: Rhône Valley, France
Blend: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre
