This 2022 Galpin Peak Pinot Noir is a flagship wine that embodies the unique terroir of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, delivering a richly expressive and structured Pinot Noir experience.

Grapes are sourced from vineyards that experience a challenging growing season, with cold, wet conditions during flowering and exceptionally warm, dry conditions in January 2022. After primary fermentation, which saw 34% indigenous yeast activity, the wine was blended after 11 months in French oak (28% new oak) and underwent an additional 4 months of elevage before bottling in May 2023.

Galpin Peak Pinot Noir pays homage to the fynbos-clad slopes of Galpin Peak, offering immediate expressive aromas of succulent plum, clove, and nutmeg. The wine’s structure, marked by well-defined black olive tapenade and cranberry tart flavours wrapped in a kelp-like tannin, makes it a timeless wine built for aging and enjoyment until 2027.

Pairing Suggestions: Ideal with braised lamb shanks, slow-cooked beef bourguignon, or a wild mushroom risotto.

Tasting Note: Expressive aromas of plum, clove, and nutmeg combine with notes of black olive tapenade and cranberry tart, culminating in a velvety smooth finish with subtle kelp-like tannins.
