2024 Jean Daneel Signature Chenin Blanc
Based at his boutique winery and farm in Napier, one of the most southerly towns in the Western Cape, Jean Daneel crafts his highly regarded handmade wines (since 1997). Younger winemakers in the Cape regard him as one of the great patriarchs of Chenin Blanc. He sources fruit from old vineyards in Overburg, Robertson and Paarl fermenting in French barriques (20% new) followed by 12 months barrel ageing with regular batonnage.
Tasting Note: On the palate you get the bright green apple acidity with subtle layers of dried apricot, pineapple, almond and wild honey. Superb now but designed to evolve and expand in flavour if cellared for four to five years. A Chenin Blanc for Chenin Blanc drinkers.
