2020 Idun Nuit Eternelle Syrah
This 2020 IDUN Nuit Eternelle Syrah is a twilight-inspired masterpiece: an elegant, savoury Elgin Syrah that combines freshness, depth, and age-worthy structure.
The 2020 Nuit Eternelle was hand-harvested and cooled overnight. Sixty percent of the grapes were destemmed, with the remainder fermented whole-cluster in open-top tanks using indigenous yeasts. After fermentation, the wine matured for 14 months in French oak barrels (20% new), balancing oak spice with varietal purity.
This Syrah is special for its singular terroir and artisanal approach that captures Elgin’s unique cool-climate signature. “Nuit Eternelle” (eternal night) evokes both the wine’s twilight character and its promise of longevity.
Pairing Suggestions: Delightful with wild mushroom risotto, roasted eggplant with pomegranate molasses, lamb tagine or grilled venison.
Tasting Note: Deep garnet with a savoury bouquet of black olive, violet and white pepper; the palate reveals brambly berry fruits, fine ripe tannins and bright freshness, finishing long and elegant.
