Pesquera is acknowledged as one of the greats of Ribera and when we tasted these with their export manager, both Ethan and Mark reckoned them to be worth every penny of joy, complexity and satisfaction.

Made in a traditional style, these wines remain the standard by which all other Ribera del Duero are measured.

Minimum 14 months in 225-litre American oak barrels and rest in the bottle before release.

Tasting Note: Complex and sophisticated with an array of aromas, including ripe red and black fruit, balsamic notes, and hints of roasted vanilla and liquorice. On the palate, it is sweet and persistent, with very round tannins that complement the subtle notes of fruit, all well-integrated with the wood.

Bodega Tinto Pesquera

Alejandro Fernández and his wife Esperanza Rivera purchased a 16th-century winery in Pesquera de Duero around half a century ago, with the intention of restoring the winemaking tradition of Ribera del Duero. Their efforts were rewarded when they created the iconic Tinto Pesquera, which has been praised by Robert Parker as one of "the 'Spanish Pétrus'".
