The Wines of Greece
Greece boasts a rich winemaking history, dating back thousands of years, with indigenous grape varieties.
The island of Santorini is famous for Assyrtiko, a white wine with high acidity, citrus, and mineral flavours, often showing a saline character due to the volcanic soil. Nemea is known for Agiorgitiko, producing red wines with flavours of plum, cherry, and sweet spice, often with soft tannins. Naoussa, in northern Greece, excels with Xinomavro, offering complex red wines with red fruit, olive, and earthy notes, reminiscent of Nebbiolo. Our current favourite is Liatiko, a very light red wine, that's our star for lightly chilled Summer sipping.
