The Wines of Switzerland
Switzerland produces distinctive wines primarily from indigenous grape varieties, where the alpine climate contributes to the unique profile of its wines.
The Valais region is famous for Fendant (Chasselas), a white wine with delicate floral, citrus, and mineral flavours; the Lavaux terraces in Vaud are also known for Chasselas. Pinot Noir from Graubünden offers elegant red fruit, earth, and a hint of spice. Petite Arvine from Valais is a noteworthy white wine with grapefruit, rhubarb, and saline notes.
