The 2020 Ridge Monte Bello captures the essence of its breathtaking mountain home. This limited release showcases Ridge’s unwavering dedication to terroir and tradition, blending power with poise to create a world-class expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Produced exclusively from organically grown estate fruit, this members-only release is meticulously crafted from 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. The wine delivers unrivalled structure, balance, and ageing potential, as you would expect from California’s most storied vineyard at its best. With its long history, natural winemaking philosophy, and mountain purity, Monte Bello remains a true benchmark for fine wine.

Winemaking:

Hand-harvested grapes from the Monte Bello vineyard were de-stemmed and fermented as whole berries using native yeasts. Following natural malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for twenty months in 95% air-dried American oak and 5% French oak, all new. Minimal sulphur was used, preserving the authentic expression of the vineyard. The result is a finely structured wine with remarkable cellaring potential, a true reflection of Ridge’s minimal intervention approach.

Pairing Suggestions:

Outstanding with prime rib and Yorkshire pudding, grilled lamb chops with rosemary, or a rich mushroom Wellington for vegetarians.

Tasting Note:

Opaque ruby colour with aromas of cassis, plum, vanilla, and bay laurel. Velvety tannins and bright acidity frame a long, sumptuous finish.
