2022 Victor Ausejo ‘en Barrica’ Rioja Blanco
Victor was Tim Atkin MW’s young winemaker of the year in 2021, with his inaugural 2020 vintage. Since then, Victor has gone from strength to strength producing elegant, refined wines with freshness and balance to mark them out among the very finest wines of the region.
This wine, produced from old vine Garnacha Blanco and aged for 12 months in French and Hungarian oak, is the flagship and as such presents immediate complexity with the hallmarks of a wine to age.
Only a few cases are made each year and is fast becoming one of the collectables of the region thanks to ongoing press plaudits.
Tasting Note: The oak is well framed around the white peach aromatic fruit and racy creamy texture in the palate.
