The Quinta do Baixo Vinhas Velhas comes from century-old vineyards, with Maria Gomes and Bical planted in a mostly limestone terroir. Due to its high natural acidity, these vineyards produce wines with a pH below 3.0, allowing for the possibility of malolactic fermentation, which takes place in 1000-liter fudre with over 60 years of history, from the Mosel region.

The VV showcases the extraordinary lightness and sophistication of Bairrada.

Tasting Note: Light in colour, with a vibrant, familiar, expressive, and very austere character. The limestone notes are very prominent, enveloped in aromas of lemon, spices, and white flowers. In a more generous year for fruit, the austere and mineral profile of Bical is in perfect balance with the expressiveness of Maria Gomes. On the palate, it impresses with its lightness, yet full-bodied and with a lot of strength. The citrus acidity elevates the wine to a unique level, fresh, complex, very refined, and elegant. With a deeply mineral finish, it presents notes of dried fruits thanks to the long fermentation in barrel. A serious, distinguished white that should be enjoyed in Burgundy-style glasses.
