The Evolution of Auctioneer Napa Valley Cabernet

Recently, we sent out an email about one of the newest wines in our range: Auctioneer Napa Valley Cabernet.

Our Newlyns shop manager, Ethan Harvey, took on the challenge of opening a bottle and sampling it throughout the day.

Customers always ask about how long to let a wine "breathe" prior to tasting. Here are Ethan's notes.

Late Morning - Expressive aromas of sweet morello cherry with just a whiff of bay leaf brought together with very ripe tannins. Lots of attitude on the palate, like trying to strap an angry toddler into a pushchair.

Early Afternoon - The attitude has waned by now, giving way to relaxed scents of leather & kirsch. Fine tannins coat the palate. You sense it is beginning to settle into its stride.

Evening - Smokey aromas now come to the fore, mingling with gentle wood spice and hints of cinnamon and clove. Incredible length and persistence.

In short, delicious at any time of day! Very interesting to note the evolution throughout the day.

We only have a small number left!
