"Less is more", reflects the concept of this wine.

Batuta is a wine that embodies extremes. It strikes a balance between abundance and restraint, with a delicate yet intense aroma and finely-presented tannins. The grapes are sourced from the 70-year old Carril vineyard and other old vineyards near Quinta de Nápoles, resulting in a concentrated and fresh wine. The meticulous vinification process, including long macerations with minimal extraction, results in a complex, refined, and elegant wine.

In 2012, the Douro region experienced a severe drought, resulting in a 15-day delay in the vineyard's vegetative cycle compared to previous years. However, the following winter's cold temperatures provided favorable conditions for balanced vegetation growth. The grapes were able to develop good total acidity and a fresh, balanced palate due to the milder maturation period. The harvest occurred in September.

After a careful selection, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, fermentation took place in stainless steel vats and wooden vats, with maceration for around 60 days. It then aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which were new wood, where malolactic fermentation took place.

A touch of Mediterranean herbal notes adds a fresh and mineral aspect to the already alluring profile. On the palate is a luxurious and refined experience, as the firm structure and velvety tannins create a perfect balance. Despite its youth, the wine boasts excellent volume and natural acidity, resulting in a fine, long, and seductive finish.
