2000 Domaine Henri Boillot Volnay 1er Cru 'Les Fremiets'

Volnay, in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, is renowned for producing some of the region’s most elegant and perfumed Pinot Noir. Les Fremiets is a Premier Cru vineyard situated close to Pommard, typically producing wines with a little more structure and earthy depth than Volnay’s most delicate expressions.

Now over 25 years old, expect a mature and savoury expression of Pinot Noir, with aromas of dried cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal and forest floor, developing into notes of mushroom, tobacco, sweet spice and earthy undergrowth. The palate should be silky and poised, with softened tannins, gentle acidity and a lingering, savoury finish. A lovely example of mature Burgundy at its most nuanced.
