Breit Extra Brut is an exhilarating Alsace sparkling wine that marries brioche richness with zesty citrus, fine mousse and steely mineral tension, make it ideal for marking life’s brightest moments.

Domaine Mélanie Pfister sits in Dahlenheim’s cooler, limestone-rich vineyards at Alsace’s northern tip. Mélanie, eighth-generation vigneronne, farms 43 parcels organically and vinifies each separately for pinpoint purity. “Breit” honours the Hangenbreite “wide slope” where Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois flourish.

Hand-harvested whole bunches are pressed gently and fermented (alcoholic & malolactic) in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve vibrant fruit. The wine spends just under 24 months on its lees after traditional bottle fermentation, before disgorgement in January 2024.

This Extra Brut stands out for its extended lees ageing and extra-low dosage (3 g/l), delivering layered brioche depth without sacrificing freshness.

Pairing Suggestions: Fine oysters, buttery gougères or a citrus-topped tarte au citron.

Tasting Note: Floral nose with nutty brioche overtones on the nose. The palate opens with citrus blossom, creamy vanilla and orchard fruits, finishing precise and mineral-driven.

At Domaine Mélanie Pfister in Alsace’s Dahlenheim, eight generations of winemaking expertise meet contemporary precision. Since taking over in 2006, Mélanie has led the move to certified organic viticulture and separate vinification of each plot. Utilising 43 different parcels across limestone-rich slopes that deliver pure, elegant wines with striking minerality.

Mélanie’s winemaking career includes time at legendary estates like Méo-Camuzet and Craggy Range. Committed to sustainability, the estate was fully certified organic in 2021 and uses site-specific biodynamic treatments to nurture its vines.

Her wines, notably dry Rieslings and characterful Pinot Gris, reflect Alsace’s cooler northern terroirs.
