2018 Domaine Badoz Vin de Paille
This rare, naturally sweet wine is among the great French dessert wines. The finest grapes are harvested bunch by bunch at the beginning of the harvest from a carefully chosen blend of Savagnin, Chardonnay, and Poulsard. Placed on racks on a bed of straw for approximately four months, the shrivelled and dehydrated bunches, bursting with sugar, are then pressed. 100 kg of grapes will produce 15 to 18 litres of must. Fermentation is very slow, and the Straw Wine must age for three years in oak barrels. It undergoes no fortification.
Tasting Note: Precise, fresh aromas of candied fruit, citrus, oranges, curry. Beautiful liqueur on the palate, powerful, invigorating and juicy.
