2021 Moorooduc Garden Vineyard Pinot Noir
This is very much a wine for Pinot Noir aficionados who are looking for a bit more grip and complexity.
From a single vineyard leased from the McFall family where the grapes are fermented under 100% natural yeast in whole bunches gaining colour, complexity and tannin from the skins and stalks.
Hand harvesting, 100% whole bunch fermented | 100% wild yeast primary fermentation | 17 days total on skins & stalks | Natural malolactic fermentation in barrel |
14 months in French oak, 22% new | No fining and no filtration.
Tasting Note: Mid-purple ruby in colour, this wine has a moreish nose, combining black raspberry and cherry with cinnamon and star anise spice and earthy savouriness. A touch of orange rind and Campari notes emerge in time from the whole bunch fermentation. Red cherry juicy fruit on the palate is balanced by woodsy flavours reminiscent of rosemary, lavender, dried autumn leaves and mossy earth. Fine grained tannins round out the structure on the palate, with some tangy acidity that keeps things fresh.
Origin: Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Blend: Pinot Noir
