Nestled in the picturesque village of Savigny-les-Beaune, the Clos des Godeaux vineyard enjoys an ideal south-facing exposure at an altitude of 360 meters (1180 feet). Adjacent to the Clos des Lavières Premier Cru, this vineyard is a favorite among photographers for its stunning Burgundian "cabotte" (hut). The soil, composed of marl and limestone from the Bathonian age, is light with a reddish hue and strewn with sharp stones, providing a unique terroir.

Harvesting is done by hand in open-work crates with careful sorting if necessary. The vinification process includes total destemming, 2 to 3 weeks of fermentation and maceration in small open vats, with punching of the cap and pumping-over. Indigenous yeasts are used, and pressing is done in a vertical press with separation of the press ends based on tasting.

The wine is aged in oak barrels, with 20 to 25% new barrels, for 14 to 16 months. The oak is sourced from French high forests. Throughout the aging process, decisions are based on careful tasting evaluations and technical analysis, ensuring that each Joseph Drouhin wine expresses the true character of its terroir and vintage.

Tasting Note: The 2022 vintage stands out for its brightness and intensity. The nose combines complex aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and blackcurrant with floral scents of peony and violet. On the palate, the spices enhance the silky, high-quality tannins. These wines are ample, full-bodied, and fresh, showcasing a perfect balance between aromas and structure, with significant aging potential.
