The Wines of Veneto, Italy

Veneto is a vibrant wine region in northeastern Italy, known for its diverse wine styles and rich heritage. Nestled between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, it produces more wine than any other Italian region, despite being smaller than heavyweights like Tuscany and Piedmont. Veneto is home to some of Italy's most iconic wines, including the refreshing Prosecco, the rich and robust Amarone, and the elegant Soave.

Key sub-regions include Valpolicella, where Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes are transformed into bold reds like Amarone and Recioto. Soave, to the east, is famed for its crisp white wines made from Garganega grapes. The hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene are the heart of Prosecco production, with the Glera grape taking center stage.

Veneto's diverse terroir, from the alpine foothills to the fertile plains, allows for a wide range of wines that cater to every palate, making it a cornerstone of Italy’s wine culture.
