2019 Moorooduc Estate Pinot Gris
The 2019 growing season commenced promisingly, with soil humidity at satisfactory levels and intermittent rain throughout the sprouting season. Temperatures remained tranquil and temperate in November, resulting in a successful blossom and fruit production, yet yields were slightly lower than usual.
Healthy foliage relished the rainfall during the opening half of summer, however in January and February, weather conditions turned hotter and much arid, prompting an earlier-than-anticipated harvest.
This created an intense pick-up rush for the winery, yet the ultimate calibre of the wines made the strenuous hours utterly worth it.
Hand-harvested with whole bunch fermentation in 2 to 3 year old French oak barriques with a further 10 months maturation on the lees.
Tasting Note: Pale rose gold in hue, this vintage captivates the senses with aromas of yellow pear, ripe quince, and honeysuckle. Upon tasting, it reveals dry, rich, and vinous qualities alongside a textural body, with subtle hints of hazelnut and cedar wood. Finally, it concludes with a silky, round, and generous finish.
Origin: Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Blend: Pinot Gris
