2004 Champagne Gimonnet 1er Cru Millesime
The Gimonnet family has cultivated vines in Champagne since the 18th century. The official domaine was founded in 1935, operating today as a grower. They have 28 hectares of vineyards spanning both Premier Cru and Grand Cru villages (Cuis, Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, Vertus, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ). They specialise in Blanc de Blancs Champagnes with a focus on terroir expression, finesse, minerality, and elegance.
This wine spends a miraculous 20yrs on lees. It has conviction & prowess beyond that of some of the most esteemed prestige cuvees on the wider market. A complete triumph. Soft bubbles and finest of acidities. Notes of buttered sourdough toast dominate the nose, before giving way to cream and confit lemon.
