2010 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac, Bordeaux

£40.00

Les Tourelles is the spectacular second wine of the majestic 2nd growth Château Pichon-Longueville Baron in Pauillac. Named after the Château's towers Les Tourelles features predominantly Merlot in the blend giving it a seductive, velvety character. Cabernet makes up 40% of the final wine and together with the Merlot they offer classic Pauillac flavours of cassis, earthy tobacco and plum. This wine is drinking beautifully now but can happily be cellared for a decade or more from the vintage.

The Estate was founded in 1694 and counts 1st Growth Château Latour amongst its neighbours. It has been owned by AXA Millésimes Group since 1987.

The Wine Advocate awards the wine 89 points and gives this tasting note:

The 2010 Les Tourelles de Longeville is a gorgeous, plump, fat fruit bomb with oodles of blackcurrants, cherries, spice box, roasted herbs and a hint of barbecue smoke. It is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and like a lot of second wines, is meant to be drunk as soon as it’s released, although it’s capable of lasting at least a decade or more. (Drink 2013 to 2023)
