2011 Château Gazin Pomerol
Between the 12th century and the French Revolution, the vineyards of Pomerol developed under the patronage of the Knights of Saint-Jean of Jerusalem, Rhodes, and Malta.
Château Gazin, which was a hamlet in the 18th century, is probably located on the site of the “Hospitalet de Pomeyrols”, built by the knights to receive pilgrims on the Santiago de Compostela route.
Château Gazin wines can be enjoyed after a few years in the bottle, but usually they are worth laying down for fifteen, twenty years or more.
Tasting Note: The generous profile displays a wide range of aromatic red and black fruits. Notes of plum, chocolate, coffee, and liquorice, as well as almonds, toast, tobacco, and vanilla. Upon maturation, the nose develops spicy nuances and a hint of truffle, with additional woodland, game, and leather.
Origin: Bordeaux, France
Alcohol: 13.5%
Blend: Merlot
